A Small Key

a small key can open a big door

a name can call your soul

doused in liquid gold

a glow shines free

a small key can open a big door

and what i saw was a big door

and no key

but you drew it in my book

kept it safe in a page

filled with

trite

cliche

words and images

but

in those distant futures we are marching

towards

a date

to meet

an act

to release

still,

as long as you feel the same:

i call

you answer

if there’s one bed

there’s two pillows

there’s room to grow

room to grow
